Amidst the ongoing crisis on the NEET examination issue, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday May 15 said that the National Testing Agency will conduct a re-exam for NEET UG on June 21. He also notified that the exam will shift to a computer-based test from next year onwards to ensure transparency. Following the cancellation of the NEET exam that was conducted on May 3rd, due to allegations of a paper leak and other irregularities , Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been deployed to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged irregularities linked to the exam. The Union Minister assured that fees paid by students would be refunded, and there would be zero fees for students sitting in the re-exam. Along with this a 15 minutes extension has been allotted for the examination to accommodate formalities such as signing attendance sheets. However, beyond immediate corrective measures, this crisis serves as a reminder that transparency, accountability, and fairness must remain the foundation of all national examinations to safeguard the future of students and the credibility of the education system.
