Bharat Faces Surge in Bomb Threat Emails, Triggering Nationwide Security Alerts Over the last 48 hours, Bharat has witnessed a dramatic surge in bomb threat emails, prompting major security operations across multiple cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Thane. Even an international IndiGo flight was forced to make an emergency landing amid the wave of alerts. Though authorities later confirmed all threats were false, the rapid succession of incidents has raised serious concerns about potential cyber-terror activity, leading to intensified monitoring by national security agencies. Bengaluru Threat: City Airport and Malls Targeted In Bengaluru, the City Police Commissioner received a threatening email at 11:53 a.m. on Sunday, November 30, claiming that bombs had been planted at multiple high-profile locations, including Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Orion Mall, Lulu Mall, Forum South Mall, and Mantri Square Mall. The email was sent by someone identifying as “Mohit Kumar,” who claimed affiliation with a “Jaish-e-Mohammed white collar terror team” and warned that blasts would occur from 7 p.m. onwards. Authorities responded swiftly, registering a case under Section 66F of the IT Act pertaining to cyber terrorism. Bomb squads and anti-sabotage teams secured the city, conducting extensive checks across the named sites. No explosives were found, and the threat was declared false. Investigators are now tracing the digital trail to identify the sender. Delhi University Threats: Ramjas and Deshbandhu Colleges on High Alert Delhi University faced two separate threat emails on Wednesday, December 3, causing temporary disruption on campus. At Ramjas College, a threat was received at 1:59 a.m., prompting the principal to alert authorities early in the morning. Anti-sabotage teams and the Delhi Police conducted thorough inspections, ensuring the safety of students and staff. Similarly, Deshbandhu College received a threat email on Wednesday morning referencing coordination with “Pak ISI cells.” The campus was secured, evacuated, and searched meticulously by bomb disposal teams and dog squads. Both incidents were ultimately found to be false alarms, though temporary evacuations were necessary to maintain safety. International Flight Diverted Amid Nationwide Threats The wave of threats extended to the aviation sector when an IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai on Tuesday, December 2. The flight departed Kuwait at 1:31 a.m. local time. Threat emails were received at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, at 5:12 a.m. and 7:04 a.m. IST, prompting an emergency diversion. The flight landed safely in Mumbai at 7:45 a.m., where security teams conducted a comprehensive check. No threat was detected, and passengers were later flown to Hyderabad via a separate aircraft, arriving at 3:46 p.m. IST. The incident heightened alert levels at both Mumbai and Hyderabad airports. Mumbai and Thane Schools Receive Threats On Monday, December 1, two international schools—one in Mumbai and the other in Thane—received bomb threat emails. Authorities immediately evacuated both campuses, and anti-sabotage teams conducted detailed security sweeps. No explosives were found, but the schools remained closed temporarily to review safety protocols and ensure student security. Pattern and Investigation Authorities have observed several commonalities across the recent threats. All incidents involved email communication referencing militant groups, foreign connections, or ISI cells. Each threat prompted a full-scale security response, causing panic and operational disruption. Despite widespread checks, no explosives were detected in any location. National security agencies are now investigating whether the incidents are coordinated and cybercrime units across Bharat have intensified monitoring to trace the origin of the emails.
