Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh — Cognizant has officially begun construction of its massive new technology campus in Kapuluppada IT Hills, marking one of the largest IT investments in Andhra Pradesh in recent years. The global tech firm is investing ₹1,583 crore to build the facility, which is expected to generate 8,000 high-skill jobs in AI, digital engineering, and cloud technologies by 2029. As part of the launch, the company also inaugurated a temporary 1,000-seater TechFin centre at Rushikonda IT Park, enabling immediate operations even as the main campus construction begins. The event was attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who described the milestone as a turning point in Andhra Pradesh’s technology landscape. The government highlighted that nine IT projects launched alongside Cognizant’s investment will together bring in ₹3,740 crore and create 41,700 jobs across the state. Calling the moment “deeply personal,” Minister Nara Lokesh said the past 18 months were spent rebuilding investor confidence and restoring Andhra Pradesh’s credibility in the global tech sector. “With Cognizant breaking ground on its 20,000-seater campus in Vizag, we turn a page… From here, there is only one direction for Andhra Pradesh — upward,” he said. Chief Minister Naidu echoed the sentiment, positioning Visakhapatnam as India’s next global tech hub. “From beaches to bytes and beyond… Andhra Pradesh warmly welcomes Cognizant and other leading firms,” Naidu stated. The ambitious development is seen as a major boost to Visakhapatnam’s transformation from a coastal tourism city to a high-tech innovation hub, signaling renewed investor trust and accelerating the state’s digital growth vision.
