Strategic Trust, Shared Resources: India–Brazil MoU Signals New Era in Critical Minerals Cooperation

India and Brazil signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 21, 2026 in New Delhi. This MoU will further strengthen cooperation in critical minerals and rare earth elements. The event marked as a decisive move toward resource scrutiny in an increasingly fragmented global economy. This agreement was completed at Hyderabad House including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during the latter’s official visit to India. The aim of this MoU is also targeting bilateral trade to over $20 billion within five years. Prime Minister Modi witnessed this agreement as a major step toward building resilient supply chains. He also observed the $20 billion figure as a "reflection of trust" rather than just a number. The MoU pointed to the conversion from raw material to exporters into value-added processors for both nations.
