LPG Price Hike Hits Kitchens and Restaurants Across India

New financial pressure faced by millions of households and small businesses across India from 7 March, 2026. The LPG cylinders increased sharply. This sudden hike affected both home cooking and eating out, increasing concern for families, restaurant owners and street food vendors, specifically those who rely heavily on LPG for daily cooking. The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased by ₹60 across the country, under this new revision. Since April 2025, this is the first major increase for household consumers. This revision is clearly visible in major cities. In Delhi, the price has increased from ₹853 to ₹913 per cylinder. In Mumbai, it has risen from ₹852.50 to ₹912.50. In Kolkata, the price moved from ₹879 to ₹939, while in Chennai it increased from ₹868.50 to ₹928.50. For many middle-class families already managing tight budgets, this sudden jump adds another layer of financial stress. This is more challenging for the businesses who rely on commercial LPG cylinders.
