Cabinet Greenlights ₹8.8 Lakh Crore Infrastructure Blitz: Rail, Road, and Water Projects to Transform Connectivity and Rural Growth

The Union Cabinet has approved a huge ₹8.8 lakh crore infrastructure package with the aim to strengthen the Union Cabinet. This major move focuses on expanding India's railway network, enhancing highway connectivity, and ensuring sustainable water access for rural households. The railway expansion focuses on "multi-tracking" busy corridors in West Bengal and Jharkhand. Specifically, the Santragachi–Kharagpur and Sainthia–Pakur routes will receive 4th lines to decongest traffic. Almost 192 km these projects are covering and representing vital for the essential goods movements such as coal and steel. More freight from roads to tracks shifting the government expects to reduce carbon emissions and oil imports significantly, making the transport sector more environment friendly.
